POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Cost Accountant will focus on inventory control across the company by making analytical decisions as it relates to inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and system movements, assist in the calculation of regional cost standards, and provide reporting to aid in the calculation of COGS for the monthly/annual operating plan and revised forecasts.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Verify all inventory items are properly identified and accessible for cycle counting inventories
  • Support the organization of all inventoried items and the inputting/outputting of inventory data
  • Lead inventory counts, both cycle counts and full physical year-end inventory and adjust accordingly in the system (SAP)
  • Troubleshoot inventory inaccuracies to determine the cause and corrective actions to guard against future inventory inconsistencies; partner with other teams and/or department managers to resolve issues
  • Calculate intercompany transfer prices for new products and review/monitor transfer prices on a quarterly basis to determine required updates
  • Assists with the planning, implementation, and monitoring of regularly scheduled physical inventories as required by cycle counting, and report results for auditing
  • Assists with the maintenance and updating of the bill of materials
  • Identify monthly variances; identification and resolution of issues with manufacturing partners; and assistance with business model simulations
  • Analyze inventory levels of finished goods and raw materials to propose revised layouts to accommodate suggested inventory level adjustments
  • Prepare North American inventory shrinkage reserve analysis considering damaged product, expired product, product used in consumption and slow-moving product
  • Support management through preparation of cost analyses for special projects, acquisitions, and divestitures
  • Maintains records and files; organizes records and work efforts to assure timely accomplishments of tasks
  • Work with Accounting Teams to define, document and gain consensus on the internal customer needs to replace the data currently generated by SAP Business One
  • Works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Service and Sales, Marketing teams, Human Resources, Product Development and R&D
  • Cultivate a team spirit and promote inter-departmental cooperation by seeking opportunities to improve internal processes

YOU SHARE

The successful candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or comparable training in accounting with three (3) to five (5) years of cost accounting experience in addition to experience in a manufacturing-based operation; knowledge of SAP and/or BPC is a plus. This self-motivated person list strong analytical skills, sound decision making, solid communication & presentation skills , and the ability to influence others among their positive attributes.
