Datamars’ commitment to supporting a more sustainable global livestock sector is being further strengthened through its active membership in the Argentinian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef / Mesa Argentina de carne sustentable (MACS), a multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to advancing economic, social and environmental sustainability across Argentina’s beef industry.
MACS brings together more than 50 organisations across the entire beef value chain, including producers, processors, retailers, service providers, NGOs, researchers, and government agencies. Together, the group is working to identify challenges, share expertise, and develop practical solutions that support both the long-term sustainability and productivity of the sector.
Why this partnership matters
Datamars’ involvement with MACS is part of a broader focus on participating in critical industry dialogues that shape the future of livestock production. Rather than being tied to immediate commercial outcomes, the focus for Datamars is contributing knowledge and expertise to support the industry in Argentina.
Representing Datamars on the roundtable is José Martín Jáuregui, Smart Farming Manager, Datamars Livestock Latin America.
“Our MACS membership enables us to share our knowledge and expertise on topics such as technology, data and insights, for improved productivity and sustainability. It reflects Datamars’ ongoing commitment to strengthening relationships across the livestock ecosystem and contributing to solutions that support a more resilient, sustainable beef sector in Argentina,” he says.
A recent achievement by MACS is the development of a sustainability self-evaluation tool for farmers. This tool enables producers to assess their own sustainability performance, with aggregated data helping MACS to design targeted training programmes, identify critical issues, and support informed public- and private-sector policy development.
MACS has also successfully advocated for the Argentine government requirement for electronic cattle traceability by 2026, a significant step in improving transparency, disease management, and long-term sustainability across the beef sector.
