• Overall energy consumption down 16% since 2020
  • Slovakia site receives ISO 50001 Efficient Energy accreditation

Continuing a strong progress trajectory on the journey to Net Zero, global technology solutions provider Datamars is proud to announce another major milestone: The company has achieved its 2025 target of 80% renewable energy use across its global operations.

Datamars has an ambitious goal of ‘reaching Net Zero emissions across the value chain by 2050’, with shorter term targets in line with SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) guidance. Energy consumption is an important part of this, with the company’s primary focus being reduction of overall energy consumption, which Datamars has now reduced by 16% since 2020.

To support its energy-efficiency and consumption-reduction efforts, Datamars continues to advance the certification of its major operational hubs under the international standard ISO 50001 – a benchmark for designing, implementing and maintaining energy-management systems to drive cost reduction and greenhouse-gas emissions mitigation. With its sites in Thailand and Spain already attaining ISO 50001 certification, Datamars is pleased to announce that its Slovakia site has also achieved this accreditation.

Teresa Steele-Rika, Head of Corporate Affairs for Datamars, says: “As the effects of climate change become increasingly evident around the globe, we’re focused on equipping our customers with the data and insights they need to make better informed decisions about the use of scarce resources for their operations – whether that’s on farm or in textile environments.

“Internally we’re doing the same. We’re ambitious about improving how we manage our own environmental footprint. By using data and insights to guide our decisions, including from external energy audits and the monitoring systems we have on site, we’ve been progressively increasing our use of renewable energy since 2020, and reducing our use of energy overall through small, smart changes.

“I’m really proud of the achievements we’re making as a team. While we’ll always be focused on continual improvement, the milestones we’ve met show we’re making meaningful progress.”

* Datamars considers Net Zero GHG emissions to mean reducing its emissions to a state in which the company has no net impact on the climate. This means cutting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions as close to zero as possible and neutralising any residual emissions, ensuring they’re at an acceptable level.
