Datamars Thailand has been recognised for its stellar efforts in environmental management and working alongside the community sector in Mueang Lamphun District, Lamphun, Thailand.
The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the government body under the Ministry of Industry overseeing industrial estates in Thailand, presented Datamars (Thailand) Ltd with the Green Star Award for 2022.
After an extensive audit by 18 local Lamphun IEAT representatives led by Senior Safety Officer, Suphannee Takhampan-Ying, Datamars Thailand was given a perfect rating of 100% and received the IEAT Green Star Award.
This award recognises outstanding governance, environmental and safety principles and is part of a wider programme of work to establish transparency and standardisation in the management of environmental, safety, and societal activities to ensure harmony between the environment and industry within factories located in the IEAT.
Datamars Thailand met the IEAT assessment criteria in areas of water management, industrial waste management, air quality and chemical vapor management, and safety performance. In addition, its work cooperating in supporting the community and the social sector, including work building check dams, tree planting and providing supplies for local vulnerable children was also a factor in achieving the award.
Pat Hover, Plant Manager at Datamars Thailand, says the Green Star award is well-earned and is testament to the efforts of the Human Resources and Health & Safety and Environment teams as well as the entire group at Datamars Thailand Ltd over the last several years.
“The award is the culmination of many individual efforts and activities. IEAT often asks for cooperation on a matter that is important for the community, and we are more than happy to cooperate. They are happy with our support of and involvement in their efforts regarding environmental improvement as well as our support of their community outreach efforts.”
Pat says the next step is to maintain the same level of commitment and performance in Safety, Environmental Stewardship, and Community involvement for five years to earn the Gold Star Award.
